Hello

Will Mayer is a Cape Cod–based glass artist with over two decades of experience working in flame and hot glass. His journey began in the early 2000s, when an initial curiosity about the medium quickly became a lifelong pursuit. After only six months of flameworking lessons, he began an apprenticeship at The Glass Studio on Cape Cod — the same studio he now manages today.

My Story

Will’s work is driven by a fascination with how imagery, pattern, and depth can exist within glass. Drawing inspiration from the ocean and the natural world around him, his pieces often reflect aquatic colors, organic forms, and layered textures. His style is defined by a balance of intricate, technically complex patterning and clean, restrained forms. Rather than resisting the natural behavior of molten glass, Will often works with it — allowing subtle irregularities and variations to inform the final piece and transform perceived imperfections into moments of character and depth.

Having trained with master glassmakers across the U.S. and internationally, Will brings a broad and refined skill set to his practice. His work incorporates a wide range of techniques — from detailed canework to bold sculptural forms — unified by a distinctive and considered artistic vision.

Whether creating refined production work or unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, Will continues to explore the creative and technical possibilities of glass. Many of his pieces are created in small series or as singular works, emphasizing individuality and long-term collectability. Each piece reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, material, and process — and an ongoing pursuit of balance between precision and imagination.

Custom Work

Some pieces begin with a conversation.

In addition to the works available in the shop, Will Mayer Glass accepts a limited number of custom commissions. These may include variations in color, scale, or subtle adjustments to existing designs, as well as entirely new ideas developed through collaboration.

Each piece is individually hand blown in the studio, and the process naturally allows room for exploration and variation. If you have a particular vision in mind — or simply a space that calls for something unique — we invite you to reach out to discuss the possibilities.
